Epitope Specificity
In Collagen Induced Arthritis (CIA), the disease is mediated by autoantibodies which bind to collagen type II (CII) and complement. The epitope specificity is critically important to their pathogenicity. Eptiopes that are positively associated with arthritis are C1, J1 and U1 epitopes, which are spread across the entire CII region.
ArthritoMab™ Antibody Cocktail:
Contains 4 monoclonal antibodies to collagen type II. These antibodies bind to the well-defined epitopes C1, J1, D3 and U1. Because these epitopes are spread across the CII region (CB8, CB10 and CB11 fragments), the result is good immune complex formation on cartilage for RA induction.
